Dimapur: Dimapur: The April 9 bypoll to the Koridang assembly constituency in Mokokchung district is set to witness a multi-cornered contest, with BJP, Congress, National People’s Party (NPP), and three independent candidates entering the fray.BJP has fielded Daochier I Imchen, son of former MLA Imkong L Imchen. Congress has nominated T Chalukumba Ao, while NPP has named I Abenjang as its candidate. Three others — Imtiwapang, Imchatoba Imchen, and Maj (retd) Toshikaba — have also declared their candidature.The Koridang seat has 22,390 voters who will decide the fate of the contesting candidates. The bypoll was necessitated following the death of sitting MLA Imkong L Imchen in Nov last year.Meanwhile, BJP has submitted its list of star campaigners to the Election Commission of India. The list includes Nagaland deputy CM Y Patton, BJP Nagaland president Benjamin Yepthomi, national spokesperson Sambit Patra, national secretary Anil K Antony, ministers Temjen Imna Along, P Paiwang Konyak, and Jacob Zhimomi, as well as Rajya Sabha MP Phangnon Konyak, among others.
